Elevating Brand Visibility Through a Unified Commerce Strategy

Artika

Artika reached a strategic inflection point common to leading manufacturers, arriving at an impasse where heightened visibility was required to maintain the look and feel of their in-store presence.

Datmos partnered with Artika to design a disciplined digital foundation that unified product data, commerce, and customer engagement. By implementing a scalable ecosystem across PIM, commerce, Artika gained control over its product narrative, accelerated time to market, and built the capability to form direct customer relationships while strengthening existing partnerships.

About Client

Artika is a leading manufacturer of lighting and modern home solutions, recognized for innovative design and highly technical specifications across indoor andoutdoor categories. Its catalog spans complex attributes such as dimensions, finishes, electrical requirements, and installation. This technical depth, while a competitive advantage, places high demands on data accuracy, digital presentation, and operational rigor across every channel where the brand appears.

The Challenge

Artika reached a strategic inflection point where heightened visibility had become essential to preserving the look, feel, and integrity of its in-store presence. Despite a strong reputation for design excellence and technical rigor, the brand's ability to connect with customers and communicate its value at the point of sale was being undermined by the constraints of traditional distribution models, putting brand equity and consumer trust at risk.

The path forward was clear: close the gap between product quality and brand visibility by implementing a product data strategy anchored by a PIM system and a commerce experience powered by Shopify.

Solution Architecture

Datmos designed a solution architecture that treated product data, commerce experience, and customer relationships as one integrated system. Akeneo was selected as the product information backbone and Shopify as the commerce platform. Datmos defined the operating model, data flows, and governance required to keep the system reliable as scale increased. Central to the architecture was an embedded collaboration model, aligning strategy, implementation, and iteration. Technology enabled the shift, but discipline sustained it. The result was a foundation capable of supporting direct to consumer growth while reinforcing Artika’s existing B2B ecosystem.

Platform Implementation and Data Foundation for B2C and B2B

Datmos implemented Akeneo to centralize and standardize Artika’s product data, previously distributed across disconnected systems. The solution was designed to efficiently manage over 10,000 SKUs across three languages and two markets, ensuring consistency and scalability from day one. As Akeneo’s top integration partner in North America, with the highest volume of implementations, Datmos brings unmatched expertise in complex PIM integrations. Complex attributes such as finishes, electrical specifications, and installation guidance were unified into a single source of truth. The PIM was built with future customer needs in mind. This includes B2B requirements, ensuring Pro partners can always access accurate, consistent information. Automated integrations between Akeneo and Shopify reduced manual effort and improved reliability. This stronger data foundation enables faster catalog updates, improved accuracy, and the ability to present the full depth of Artika’s product line across all channels with confidence.

UX/UI Experience Transformation

Datmos redesigned Artika’s digital experience with a clear focus on removing friction at every step of the customer journey. Navigation was reimagined to help users quickly orient themselves and discover relevant products without cognitive overload, while search was rebuilt to deliver highly relevant results aligned with natural customer queries. A mobile-first approach ensured a seamless experience across devices.

To bring this to life visually, Datmos developed a scalable design system using its Borealis framework, translating Artika’s refreshed brand identity into a consistent and flexible UI. Beyond visual cohesion, the system established a shared language between design and development, accelerating delivery while maintaining a distinctive and recognizable brand experience.

Results & Business Impact

Artika unified product data, digital commerce, and customer retention into a single, scalable ecosystem. Automated data flows accelerated catalog migration by thirty percent and reduced operational effort. Two major initiatives were executed in parallel, delivering meaningful time and cost efficiencies. The new foundation enabled Artika to process thousands of direct orders, present its full catalog with accuracy, and establish durable direct to consumer relationships while continuing to support retail partners. Most importantly, the company now operates with greater clarity and control. The system is built to support sustainable growth across channels, markets, and customer relationships over time.

When you're managing a complex catalog across B2B and B2C channels, the cracks show fast: inconsistent product data, disconnected experiences, and a storefront that can't keep up.

Datmos brings together PIM strategy, experience design, and Shopify implementation to give Artika a foundation built for both channels. We've done it for Steelcase, SUNEX Tools or XPEL. We'd like to do it for you.
